Hello!
Let me introduce myself :) I'm from Ogema and Kennan respectively. While with my father in Ogema, surrounded by the woods with Jump River right near us, my dad, brother, grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles spent a lot of the summer tubing, fishing and swimming. We camped a lot in the summers and fished even more :) In Kennan, I lived on a dairy farm with my 5 siblings and had a wonderful time as a child. We moved when I was a Junior at Phillips High School, but I still think about all the fun we had working with the animals and doing chores. I attended UW-Oshkosh after graduating in 1998 and dove right into Art Education, emphasizing in Art Metals, Weaving/Material Design and Ceramics. While attending college, I got to experience different teaching methods, depending on the school I was volunteering or working at. I worked at UW-Oshkosh in Instructional Technology Services throughout my college career, becoming the Supervisor of the Clow IT Service Center in 2006 after being a substitute teacher in the Fox Valley area in 2004-2005, and in 2005-2006 I worked as an EBD Educational Assistant and taught a night class 'Art as Recreational Therapy' at UW-Oshkosh.
In 2006, I went back to school full time (at night) to earn my Master's degree in Educational Leadership, emphasizing in Ceramics, Sculpture and Photography. This was extremely hard but it was a blast! As a graduate student, I (in turn with the other grad students) had to load, fire, and unload the kilns for Ceramics, and kept the dark room open one night a week in Photography. By going full time, I was able to graduate with this degree in 2007 and would have continued classes for another semester in Madison to complete my Principals Licensure, but I was able to secure an Art Teacher position in Phillips, joining Prentice School District in 2010. I moved back to the area to do what I really love, and got to work with one of my mentors :) I had great art mentors all through my K-12 education which is why I do what I do today... TEACH ART :) the best job ever!!!
My husband and I take full advantage of what the northwoods has to offer. We enjoy fishing local lakes and love going on Lake Superior to fish, particularly ice fishing. Walking the woods trails hunting grouse is another favorite pass time of ours. We are excited to add another boy to our family, Luke joining big brother James <3
